Volunteer Opportunites

At Big Sandy Red Cross we always have volunteer possibilities! There are hundreds of ways that you can help.

Some examples of how you can help by volunteering at the chapter are:

1. You could do quality surveys with the clients we serve over the phone.

2. You could write “Thinking of you” cards for families we have served over the course of the past year.

3. You could help fill-out client case work in the event we need to open a shelter.

4. You could be on a “Disaster Assistance Team”, that responds to house fires or flooding in our area.

5. You could be a greeter at a shelter.

6. If you are a nurse, you could help with first aid and distribution of medications during a shelter event.

7. You could be an instructor in First Aid or CPR for our chapter.

8. You could help us in planning events for our chapter.

9. You could help in our chapter fundraising.

10. You could help provide canteen services for responders to disasters or searches for missing persons.

“YOU COULD CHANGE A LIFE…STARTING WITH YOURS…”

These are only a few of the ways you can help volunteer for our chapter. Volunteering can be a wonderful experience for citizens who have recently retired and need to spend some time helping others who may find themselves less fortunate.

There is nothing quite as rewarding as helping a family in need of Red Cross services. When you arrive on the scene of a disaster, their expressions change, they know that you can be trusted because of the vest you wear. Red Cross has been helping victims of disaster for over 100 years! This organization is one of the few that has changed very little in the services that we provide.
